Some of the rarest and most sought-after Moldavite was found in the Besednice area of the Czech Republic. Specimens from this area are well known for their beautiful formation, with deep grooves and spiky edges, which earned them the nickname “hedgehogs.” The collection fields at Besednice have been closed for several years, and the largest and best examples of this material are now in private collections.
Moldavite is believed to initiate dramatic transformation and aid in advancement to a higher level of consciousness. Demand for moldavite has steadily increased over the past several years, resulting in the exhaustion of several collection sites and a dramatic rise in price.
