Description
This beautiful pendant measures 2” long, including the bail, and 1” wide. The generous bail will accommodate a chain, collar, or leather cord up to 8mm in diameter. The total weight for the piece (stone + silver) is 11.96 grams. The Ocean Jasper® cabochon has dark green orbs on a background of gold, with tiny bits of red.
Ocean Jasper® is a trademarked name for orbicular jasper, a stone that was discovered in Madagascar in the late 1990’s. It is well-known for its swirling patterns of multiple colors and dots, caused by orbs that formed inside the material. Ocean Jasper® was first introduced to the market at the Tucson gem show in January of 2000.
As of 2024, eight veins of this material have been found in the original Marovato location, along with additional “veinless” pockets. A second deposit was found in Kabamby, which is further inland than where the original vein was found. We aren’t sure of the exact location where the material in this pendant was mined. It was obtained several years ago and is therefore referred to as “old stock,” a term that’s commonly used by Ocean Jasper® collectors.
Ocean Jasper® corresponds to all chakras, but it is especially beneficial to the root chakra. It has a calming and relaxing energy and promotes optimism and joy. Ocean Jasper® encourages you to focus on yourself and to realize your personal power.
